Potomac Vintage Riders
of the US Mid-Atlantic region
AHRMA
MID-ATLANTIC
CROSS COUNTRY
SERIES

Potomac Vintage Riders sponsors the 10 round AHRMA Mid-Atlantic region Vintage and Post Vintage Cross Country series. Vintage is for bikes built typically before 1975 and Post-Vintage is for bikes built from 1975 – 1988. There are also Disk Brake (Pre-Modern, Early-Modern, etc.) classes up to 1999.

See race flyers at  www.ahrmaMA.org for more specifics on bike eligibility as brake type, suspension travel and bike year all play into it.

All classes are further divided into AA, Expert, Intermediate and Novice skill levels. Courses are usually 3.5 – 5.0 miles long and offer a wide range of challenging trail conditions from woods single track, mud/rocks/roots, hills, grass track and two-track logging/fire roads.

In addition, there are Age classes for riders 50+, 60+ and 70+ in Vintage and Post-Vintage categories plus 50+ and 60+ classes in Disk Brake. Racers 16 years or older can race.

For cross country, bike displacement classes are 88 to 200cc and 201cc+ Open. All races are about 1 hour or more. Vintage race starts in the morning. Around noon, the Post-Vintage racers have their race, after that Disk Brake (Pre-Modern & up to 1999) bikes take to the track. The benefit of a three race format is it allows you to bring a different bike for each race for maximum seat time....if desired!  Awards are presented to the top winners in each class. It is great time reliving the past with a friendly and knowledgeable like-minded group.

For 2024, most XC events will run in tandem with MX event locations with the goal of increased attendance and cross-over participation. Series points will be tallied separately. Year end awards require 50% of races in series, plus one. Ex.) Half of 10 races plus one equals 6 counted for XC. (6 minimum)
